Video IPOD’ing a 2004 Grand Cherokee

So the iPod’ing of cars is getting fun. Next up, a 2004 Grand Cherokee. This installation blows away mine for a few reasons. First, this installation allows full control of the iPod from the factory cd changer controls. Second, it charges the iPod. Third, when changing from cd changer mode on the factory head unit, it automatically charges the iPod.

Today Swoggs stopped over with his 2004 Grand Cherokee, and he was looking for some help to iPod the ride. Once again, USASpec comes to the rescue with a great unit. This plugs directly to the head unit, will charge, allow remote iPod control…etc. So here are some pics:

The hardest part of any installation is always removing the dash. Took us a bit on the Cherokee, but we got it all apart. If you look closely above, you will see the white USA-spec iPod controller, after we have run the cable from the head unit.

Here is the final resting place. Just a little work with the titanium bits to cut holes to mount the module.
